Almost anything goes, with a few exceptions
A good junk removal crew will take the vast majority of what's cluttering your home: furniture, appliances, electronics, yard debris, construction scrap, and general household junk. But a short list of items is regulated as hazardous waste and can't ride in a standard load, no matter who you hire. Knowing what those are ahead of time saves everyone a wasted trip.
What we generally can't take
- Automotive fluids like motor oil, antifreeze, and gasoline
- Propane tanks and other pressurized cylinders
- Household and car batteries in bulk
- Asbestos and asbestos-containing materials
- Medical or biohazard waste, needles, and sharps
- Ammunition and explosives
Where to take hazardous items instead
Clark County operates a Household Hazardous Waste facility that accepts many of these materials from residents, often at no charge. Auto shops frequently take used motor oil, and propane tank exchanges accept old cylinders. When in doubt, call the facility first to confirm what they take and when they're open.
Items that are fine, with a small surcharge
A few items aren't off-limits but do carry a fee because of how they're disposed of. Refrigerators, freezers, and AC units need certified Freon (refrigerant) recovery, and tires carry a per-tire recycling fee since they're banned from landfills. We take all of these, and we just tell you about the surcharge upfront so there's no surprise.
The simple version
If it's a solid object and not on the hazardous list above, chances are we can haul it. We can even take some things other haulers won't, like leftover paint and household liquids.
